About Me

I have a deep interest in how life, art, and theology work together, or sometimes collide. There is something that tells me that life needs to include God - this is simply an assumption on my part. But along with that is something in me that says that art and writing have to play a part in that. They both texture life.

Webster defines 'texture' as "the essential part, the substance, or the identifying quality". In that light, the textured life for me is the one that has the right essence, or substance. There are identifiable qualities to a life that is lived the right way. Those are the textures of life. The focus of this site is the cross textures of theology and the arts, specifically writing. There are things about these two studies that go far to help us understand what we are here for. In their own ways, they both answer longings that sometimes we can't even voice.

That being said, my main purpose here is selfish. I really want to write and think about these things, but I am too lazy/busy/undisciplined to do it regularly without a deadline. So hopefully having a posting schedule that I commit to will help. I would really love your feedback.

A word about Amazon. I chose to become an Amazon Associate. This means that if you click on a link for an Amazon product listed on my blog, and then buy that product, I get a small referral fee. I did not become an associate for this reason, and if you buy anything because of my blog, that's fine. I became an associate because I want you to have access to what I am reading. Amazon associates makes it extremely easy for me to provide that information to you, so that's why I use it.

Thanks for taking the time to read through my work.
-Michael
